Gravure printing:

Limitations: image clarity is slightly lower than gravure printing (usually 48 lines per centimetre, 60 lines per centimetre for high quality printing), color saturation is lower (mainly with water-based ink) and water marks may appear when printing in large areas.
3. Cost-effectiveness
Gravure Printing:
Initial investment: High equipment costs (20%-30% higher than flexographic printing), expensive platemaking. Long-term costs: Suitable for long-run printing (low costs when job design is stable) but longer downtime (2-3 percentage points longer for flexographic printing).
Flexographic Printing:
Initial investment: low equipment cost, integrated printing, die-cutting, varnish and other processes, high return on investment.
Long-term costs: Suitable for short or medium-run printing (low costs when operational design changes frequently), dependent on imported consumables (higher costs) but self-sufficient for domestic gravure printing consumables.
4. Environmental Performance and Applications
Gravure Printing:
Environmental Issuess: Use of volatile solvents results the production of large quantities of harmful gases in the workplace and pollution control needs to be strictly controlled.
Uses: Flexible plastic packaging (such as food bags, medicine bags), cigarette packaging, high-end brochures, etc.
Flexographic Printing:
